When Megan walked into my studio she had a kind face.  She looked a little timid, and possibly unsure of what was going to happen next.  I knew she had just completed in a fitness competition the day before and was wanting to document her progress along side her husband.  We chatted a bit before the session began, to try to get to know her a bit more….this is when I started to hear her amazing journey over the past 6 months.  She might describe herself as a “mom” or a “wife” but to me Megan is Fierce!  She had a goal, something most of us women want to do; Loose weight, look better, feel better.  I am in awe….Being a person myself who has always struggled with body image issues ( like a lot of women do) Megans story has inspired me, to at least start thinking about doing something different.  Maybe there is a runner inside me, or an avid gym go-er, and maybe not.  Maybe I just change my eating habits and go from there.  Maybe you will see what Megan was able to accomplish and be inspired yourself to make a life change.   Thank you for the being brave enough to let me photograph you, to put yourself out there, let the world see where you were and where you are now.  Tonight, I might even go for a run….

We’ve told stories several times, of how Pat was not one of my favorite people back in the day.  Today, he is one of the best fathers I know, with a huge heart and love for his family.  Erin, I met years later…this is a girl I wish I could put in my pocket and keep around all the time.  All we do is laugh…

I wanted to share of few of my favorites from our beach time in North Carolina.  We planned the light just right.  It couldn’t have been a more beautiful night.  This is a rather casual shoot, chasing the three Sawyers children around is no small task.  With names like, Bubba, Pnut, and Chunk….you know these three know how to have a good time.

Love you Sawyers Fam!  I only hope I did you all justice.

I think we all have a soft spot in our hearts for “mature” folks as these. I just loved how these two, after so many years together, still seem to be so in love. They remind me of my own grandparents, growing more in love the longer they are on this earth together. While I sit back and watch the family dynamic, and how proud they must be to see the generations that follow them, it makes my heart ache a bit for the way the world devalues our relationships these days. I can only hope to still find this kind of love in my lifetime, and hope that for my children’s sake, and their children’s children, that we find it in our hearts to get back to the simple family values. Thank you Erma & Erman, for reminding us that this kind of love is possible…..

We could not have asked for better models.  These four had a great time, the laughter coming from each of them was contagious, and we all left with sore cheeks from all the smiling.  They were up for anything, and loved trying all on the clothes that Vanilla Urban Threads were kind enough to let us borrow for the shoot.

Allison and her little family came down to the studio one sunny Sunday morning.  We enjoyed our warm drinks and basking in the light of the big windows at the studio.  There are several gorgeous photos from this session, but these Black & Whites are something special.   Reminiscent of the old film days, I love how this simplicity captured a moment with mom and son, before they welcomed a new baby into the world.   Congratulations Allison, Rory and Sailor-man.  I can’t wait to get to know and love this new baby as much as I love the rest of you.

I’m looking for an intern, there’s no money to be made, but I have knowledge to share.  You can learn the ins-outs of a real working studio.  The fun parts, the not-so-fun parts, and hopefully leave with skills and a new friend.

I’m hoping to find someone available 2-3 days a week, working about 5-10 hours.  My schedule is always changing, so someone with a bit of flexibility is great, but I will be respectful of your schedule as well.  I do occasionally shoot on the weekends, but not typically all day.  Im looking for someone with some office experience, especially in the organizing department.  I need someone willing to carry bags, climb ladders, and hold light stands.   Do you have your own transportation to and from the studio?  Once you’re here, if we go anywhere, I’ll drive…
