About Tambi Lane

While she’s been told she must have “magic in her lens”, Tambi Lane approaches each shoot with a unique point of view; combing years of studied skill, natural style and true creative integrity. Tambi Lane is a single mother of two girls and has lived in Bend with them for nearly 9 years. She is one of the owners of Studio 3, a photographers co-operative located in the Old Ironworks District in the Old Mill. For more information on Studio 3, please visit their website, www.studio3bend.com. Tambi has recently finished a Graphic Design program at The Art Institute and enjoys combining her photography and design skills on many projects. Her specialties include Boudoir, Fashion, Senior, and Family Portraiture. Tambi Lane also photographs limited weddings each year with photographer Kimberly Teichrow.

There is a new venture in town with a unique view on a standard business.

Studio 3 is a photography studio opening at 558 9th Street, Unit 5.  What is so unique about this studio?  Collaboration.  Three local photographers have combined efforts and resources to open this studio. Tambi Lane, Jeff Kennedy and Kimberly Teichrow are doing a sort of photographer mind meld to come up with this unique approach to photography studio.  The three photogs have unique photography styles. Tambi’s style  has a soft, vintage feel, Jeff’s is more gritty and urban and Kimberly has bright, popping colors. Though they all do the standard photography and, all do it well, each photographer also has their own specialty. Tambi offers boudior sittings, she also does senior pictures and weddings. Jeff is a real powerhouse in senior pictures but also shoots bands and Kimberly is great with families, kids and weddings. So a customer can walk into the studio and choose which style most appeals to them for the project they have in mind.

The studio itself is stocked with fabulously photogenic furniture, and a myriad of props, allowing our trio to offer traditional studio photography. The good news is that the space will be available to rent by other photographers who might not have a studio.

What I love about Studio 3 is that they will also be offering workshops.  Their first workshop, Speedlight Flash Techniques, is Thursday, (THIS Thursday! September 23 at 6pm.)  It is being taught by photographer Byron Roe. There are a few spots still available for the class. This class is geared toward a more intermediate photographer. Studio 3 plans to hold at least one workshop each month and their next one will likely target the beginner photographer. They also plan to have some kids’ classes as well.  I love that they are willing to share their knowledge and when I asked Tambi about it she said, “I learned from someone!”
